Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Punch & Cherry Me

Cherry Me (a natural lip enhancing colour)

Finally Baby lips have arrived. I could not wait for these to arrive on Irish soil. With all the hype surrounding these I was super excited to try them. I ordered them 3 for 2 on the boots website and as always gave my mum one to keep her in the makeup loop. I ordered two shades that I thought appealed to me most and I wanted the shades that had colour pay off otherwise you just got a lipbalm. Can I just say how amazing is the packaging on the Pink Punch shade, I mean the yellow just pops against that pink. I'm a huge sucker for packaging and this totally sold me.

Ok so what do I think? Well really, they are just a lipbalm with a hint of colour, I really don't see what the hype was all about. We already have lipbalms available that have tints of colour, why did everyone go crazy for these. That being said I don't dislike them, its just I don't see what all the fuss was all about. The texture of this lip balms is like a usual balm soft and glossy however they don't feel sticky or feel like you have tons of product on your lips, you know the way some lip balms can feel like you want to scrap you whole lip off. Well these don't have that, which is a plus. Wear time is pretty standard, they don't hold against eating and drinking, but they last a reasonable amount of time. I will say they make my lips super soft though, they feel so hydrated with them on and they looked less chapped with using these daily.

The first colour I bought was Pink Punch, this is a soft, milky pink that looks super natural and is the most pigmented out of the two. It also smells really nice, it has a sweet scent, which is always delightful to have under your nose. Cherry Me, I expected to be more pigmented, yet it simply enhances your natural lip colour and gives it a boost of colour with gloss, I actually really like this shade for everyday. As you probably guessed it smells like cherries, which I like. The scents are not too over powering so people who hate scented lip products will probably still like these.

Overall, I like the baby lips, they do a pretty good job at keeping the lips hydrated and leave a tint of colour on the lips, I still don't know why they are so hyped about. They are nothing that we haven't seen before. However for €4.49 you can't really complain and for the packaging alone, I will probably repurchase when it runs out.

Have you tried Baby Lips? Do you think they are worth the hype?

Maybelline Baby Lips retails for €4.49/£2.99 /$2.99

  1. I love both of these shades, and if your in a rush or lack a mirror these are a perfect wash of colour and super quick unlike a lipstick, I just find them easy to have and easy to use.

  2. I think I prefer the formula in the colour whispers, but the branding and packaging for the baby lips is so much cuter!
