I was super excited to see that Clarins were releasing a neutral palette, we all love a neutral palette, even thou lets face it, there is only so many brown eyeshadows we can own. However we also have to have the next best one. So it was no wonder that Clarins The Essentials Palette would be a huge hit.

Upon first glance, the packaging is very old fashioned, it reminds me of a wallpaper my Nan used to have in her house. I kid you not, but it has this very classical look and feel to it. Clarins pretty much kept it simple and I like that. Another thing is the packaging is 100% recyclable and reusable, the palette flips out to reveal a reusable box. The palette also comes with a handy plastic sheet that contains a various amounts of looks that can be created, which is handy and a dual ended brush, which is actually really good.

As for the shades, well they range from a light beige shade to a deep brown shade, there are 2 matte shades and 8 shimmer shades, however they are not too shimmery they are more satin and pearl and not at all glittery. The pigmentation is brilliant, they literally only have to be touched and they give great colour pay off. As they are super pigmented they are also very creamy, which makes them really easy to work with and very easy to build up and blend. In terms of staying power, if you wear a primer they will last all day without fading or fallout, however with no primer, they will disappear after 5-6 hours, which is still pretty good wear time.

I think this palette is perfect for people who love their neutral palettes and love to have the next best thing. I also think it would make a gorgeous Christmas present for any lady in your life, or maybe treat yourself as a early Christmas present. I also created a little tutorial with this palette, I used shades 10,9,1 and 2. You can create both smokey and natural looks with this palette making it a all round amazing product.

Overall I really love this palette from Clarins and for the first product I have ever tried from Clarins I am converted to try more.

The Essentials Palette retails for €42, £35
