Searching For The Perfect Foundation

Searching For The Perfect Foundation
I don't know how many foundations I have bought over the years. Each one promising to be the next best thing, when in actual fact are just a bit meh! Like most of us girls we are constantly looking for the perfect foundation. We have a foundation in our heads and how we want our skin to look, yet cannot find one that caters for our needs. For me, I would like a high coverage, but still look light and feel light weight, I also want one with enough yellow and pink tones and I want the finish to be dewy but also keep my oily skin at bay and of course it has to stay all day and be a dream to apply. I mean is that too much to ask for ....

I have come across some foundations that nearly passed the test, first up was Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, it applied like a dream, had full coverage but still looked natural but it didn't last on me, in fact it literally slit off my face as soon as I applied it. For its very hefty price tag of a whopping €48 it would want to last on the skin. I know a lot of people love this one but for me it was €48 down the drain.

Next we had Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum, a gorgeous dewy, natural foundation that looked amazing on the skin the only problem, it doesn't last on oily skin and it doesn't cover anything. The coverage is very limited and I found within a few hours of wearing it, it had disappeared right off my face. The one thing that I do love about this foundation is that number 51 was the prefect shade. If only it had better coverage and staying power.

Moving onto another foundation that needed a little more coverage and that's Liz Earle Signature foundation, this I really liked, it was a semi matte finish, stayed pretty much all day, kept my oil at bay, but needed that little bit of extra coverage for the bad days. However I think this one came close to my dream foundation.

Lastly I currently use Revlon Colourstay, this gets a lot of mix reviews, some say its too heavy, but I think applied in one thin layer it provides enough coverage, keeps oil at bay, lasts all day and is non transferable. As this is such a  foundation for oily skin (normal/dry skin have a different formula)  it does have a matte finish however mixing it with a liquid highlighter or a bit of your mosituriser fixes that straight away and gives the foundation a less matte finish. For me Revlon Colourstay is must in my makeup bag, but its still not perfect.

Overall if they combined the finish and application of Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, took the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum colour and had the Revlon Colourstay staying power and coverage we have the perfect  foundation, but for now the search continues.

What is your dream foundation? Have you already got  it?

  1. Great post!! Foundations in general don't work with my skin but the nicest I've tried is Lancome Teint Miracle!

    1. I've heard so many good things about that foundation, I really must get a sample :)

Thanks For Commenting xx
