Rimmel Stay Matte Primer Review

rimmel matte primer

A good drugstore primer is hard to come across these days. I either find them way to oily or they just don't do anything at all. However I think I have found one that I will be buying over and over, that is until I find something better.

Rimmel previously had a primer out called 'Fix And Perfect' and while that was an ok primer, it failed to do one thing and that was actually extending the wear time of your makeup. I felt when I bought this one, it would probably be the same case. However I was pleasantly surprised. Upon first applying it, I was surprised it was a nice thick white cream. Usually a matte primer either tends to be silicone or a thin consistency, yet it was thick and creamy. This primer goes on smoothly and dries to a matte finish. It was easy to apply and sunk into the skin almost immediately after applying.

Now the big question does it extend the wear of your makeup? My skin is a little more oily lately and have been finding my makeup was sliding off my face towards the middle of the day. When I had the Stay Matte primer on my face, my oil was kept at bay and my makeup did last that bit longer. My foundation looked pretty great all day, which is a huge plus for me.

So overall I am very happy with this product. I think people who have oily skin will love this, its easy to apply, feels nice on the skin and keeps oil at bay. Even if you don't have oily skin I think its a pretty great primer at keeping your makeup on that little bit longer. Like I mentioned for a matte product it doesn't feel drying on the skin however maybe people with dry skin might want to skip on this one as anything aimed for a matte finish is probably not your best friend. At the very least for €7.95 you can't really afford to go wrong.

You can buy Rimmel Stay Matte Primer in Boots, and for the international readers Asos also stock it.

  2. I found this kept my makeup on well but was quite a lot of effort to apply! When I have time I work with it but its just a bit too thick to be my everyday primer which is a shame
