1 Palette, 1 Look- Rimmel Brixton Brown

brown toned drugstore palette
So carrying on with my new series, today I have a palette from Rimmel. I'll be honest I bought this one because a youtuber mentioned it being a dupe for a Charlotte Tilbury Palette and I was like 'Hell YES!' It was kind of hard to get hold of, I think as its the only brown palette in the bunch from Rimmel in the 5 quad collection. Either way it took me a while to get it and it cost me €8.75.

The palette itself consists of 5 shades, 2 satin shades, one frosty shade, 1 matte and 1 glitter/satin shade. The palette is overall a very neautal toned palette however it does include a striking but very pretty burgundy shade, that some people will either love or hate. I personally love it.

As you can see from the pictures above the colours come out great once swatched on the hand however once blended they seem to go a little blah, the pigmentation fails and sometimes just turns to glitter. Which is a real shame. That striking burgundy is such a gorgeous shade swatched but on the eye it really lets it down. Even applied with a primer, I get the same result. However they are easy to apply and feel nice to work with but they do lack in the pigmentation department and staying power is a little disappointing aswell.

I did in fact used all the shades to create the look and over applied that middle shade to try and get a dramatic look so it would show on camera, but I still don't think its great. Overall, I was disappointed with this palette, I would probably only recommend to makeup beginners or for people who want only a little of colour on the eyes. If you are looking for a palette for everyday, this may not be it. It lacks in pigmentation and the staying power is a little bit disappointing.

Have you tried this palette or any others from the range?
