Sunscreen for oily skin

If you have oily skin, SPF sunscreen may be your number one enemy, I can't tell you the amount of ones I have tried that have turned me into a major grease ball or made me look like I have just stepped into a sauna. I have been testing out a load of them lately and here is the low down.

First off we will go super budget and that's Ziaja Sensitive Soothing Day Cream, not actually a facial sunscreen but it does have an SPF 20 which I know isn't too high but it does the job and this lotion is so nice to wear alone but not so much under makeup. It does go quite greasy so maybe people with dry skin will love this one as its quite nourishing. However for non makeup days I really do like this one.  Next is Vichy Mattifying Face Fluid Dry Touch SPF 50 this one is a little more expensive than the previous one but I still think its within budget. It comes in around €14 which I didn't think was too bad considering the price of some sunscreens. Vichy are prefect for people who suffer with acne and problematic skin so if your worried about a sunscreen breaking you out opt for a brand like this one. This sunscreen dries to a matte finish, not too mattifying as it still looks good under foundation and keeps any oil from seeping through.

Onto the more expensive ones, first is La Roche Posay Anthelois XL SPF 50+ Dry Touch Gel Cream, now this one I hated as its quite drying, you have to blend quickly as its seems rather stiff and dry in texture. I found under makeup it didn't sit very well and just left me looking rather grey/white. It just wouldn't blend out. I really did not like one and it cost me over €20.  I do however recommend to people with extremely oily skin, I can guarantee this one will keep oil at bay all day as its very mattifying. Lastly is my fave and that is Murad Oil-Free Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30| PA+++  this one comes in at a whopping €32.50 but its totally worth it. Its not sticky, greasy or smelly like most sunscreens. It protects very well and its perfect under any type of makeup. It also smells of oranges, which is delightful to have on the face. I really love this sunscreen. I just find this one the perfect sunscreen for under makeup and for oily skin.

Overall out of the four I have tried the winners are the Vichy and the Murad ones. They are the ones that passed all the tests:

  • Easy to apply
  • No white cast
  • Keep oil at bay
  • Sits well under makeup
  • Keeps you protected
So there you have it, four sunscreens all different price tags and only two winners.

What sunscreens have you tried?
