If you read my travel makeup bag post or follow me on twitter then you will know I spent a few days in Madrid with my Mum & Auntie and it was the ultimate girly weekend. This was my first time in Madrid and it really is a beautiful city.
On the first day we arrived we visited Palacio Real which is where the Spanish Royal Family live and this place really shows you how the other half live, this place is truly breathtaking and worth a visit. Then we walked into Puerta Del Sol, where I hit Sephora of course but surprising didn't buy that much but I will have a post up soon. Puerta Del Sol is the general meeting place and a great place to do a spot of shopping. We used the tour bus to get around on the first two days as it is a great way to see everything I always try to do one when I am in a new city. On the first night we ate in Restaurante De Maria and had an excellent meal I would recommend hitting them up if you ever go to the Spanish Capital.
On the second day we finished off the tour visiting Plaza De Cibeles, The Real Madrid Stadium, Plaza Mayor and other famous sites, everything was seen on the tour bus however we didn't get off at every stop thou. My only tip was don't eat lunch in Plaza Mayor, its a major tourist attraction and the food ain't very great. That night we ate in Luna Rossa which is actually an Italian but the meal was absolutely lovely. I highly recommend the Panacotta.
On the last day we walked down the Gran Via, visited the San Miguel Market and then just chilled around the city finding an Irish Bar along the way. We literally lived off Sangria the whole trip trying a jug or two at every restaurant or café bar we stopped at...when in Spain and all. That day I tried Churros and I am sorry to say but I did not like them haha but I did have a sneaky ice cream which was amazing...they were too delicious looking to resist. We stayed in Vincci Via 66 Hotel which is located at the end of the Gran Via just before you get to Plaza De 'Espana. I would highly recommend the hotel, its perfectly located, very swanky inside and the staff are really friendly, also it has an amazing roof top bar with some stunning views of the Gran Via.
I really enjoyed my time in Madrid and had a great time spending time with family. The only thing I would say is Madrid Airport Duty Free is a massive let down...you know I love my Duty Free other than that everything was perfect and I recommend the city to everyone who wants to jet off for the weekend.
