It has taken a long time for me to find products that work on my acne/combination skin, it is safe to say it has been a lot of trail and error and after many products later I finally feel like I have a good selection of products that I can recommend to you if you too have oily acne prone skin that sometimes tends to be sensitive and sometimes dry, I know what your thinking...there is a whole lot going on haha.
First off lets talk cleansers and makeup removers. I am one fussy Francine when it comes to makeup removers they have to do a good job of removing makeup obviously but they also can't irritate the skin or leave my skin tight after use. I have tried many micellar waters and I always go back to Bioderma, I know everyone claims other ones to be dupes etc but are they really dupes? All I know is that Bioderma Micellar cleansing water never lets me down. Now up until about 2 years ago I wouldn't of dreamed of putting a cleansing oil on my already oily skin but after falling madly in love with The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil I knew I was hooked, I have tried many others since then and I can highly recommend a much cheaper alternative from Good Things, its called the Argan Oil Nourishing Cleansing Oil and it removes makeup like a boss, it also smells incredible and leaves the skin super soft and plump.
Now for my everyday cleanser I like to keep it simple, I find using something simple on the skin won't lead to breakouts and of course won't dry out the skin and this cleanser from First Aid Beauty has changed my skin. In a simple way of telling you how good it is, when I don't use it my skin reacts and breaks out and as soon as I start using it again it instantly calms down and goes back to normal, I have a full review up if you want to know more about it. However as it is a foaming cleanser it works amazing with my Clarisonic Mia which I adore and like to use about 3 times a week. I will say this buy the delicate head for your Clarisonic if you have sensitive skin as even the sensitive head that came with my Clarisonic was way too harsh.
When it comes to treatments and masks etc again I like to keep it simple. I do however change my mask every so often but I adore the Origins Clear Improvement mask, it helps with acne and blackheads etc without over drying the skin and it just feels like a mini facial every time I use it. When my skin is dry I do reach for a nourishing cream and lately I have been loving Bioderma Hydrabio Gel Creme Light Moisturising Care, its a lightweight cream that hydrates the skin and works well as a makeup base. I also like to use Origins Drink Up Intense when my skin is super dry I have a full review of that if you fancy a read.
I have also been feeding my skin with lots of serums the last few months and one in particular I really like is from a sample that I got in a recent Birchbox, it is from Ole Henriksen and it is called the truth serum collagen booster, now this aimed towards more mature skin types but it is never too early to start I guess and the scent and the way this feels on the skin is two of many reasons why I recommend this product. Like I mentioned I do have acne prone skin and so I do break out often and for that recently I have been using good old fashioned Tea Tree oil, you really do forget how good the old school stuff is, a few daps of this on a spot and it is reduced in size overnight.
So there are my current skincare saviours, hopefully if any of you have the same skin type as me will love these products as much as me. What skincare products do you swear by and if you have any recommendations for any products please let me know I am always open to trying new things.
