It is that time again where I go through my (very messy) beauty stash and tell you all about the products that have seriously impressed me these last 12 months and the products that I feel you all need for the new year. This year I kind of went on a one in one out system when it came to my makeup and beauty products, in fact I did a huge beauty declutter and decided I wasn't going to buy much this year but as you know how it goes....I did. So here are the products that I have loved in 2016.
This year I have had a seriously obsession with blushes and powders. My favourite blush this year has to be Charlotte Tilbury First Love, it is literally hands down blush of the year. First Love is a medium peachy brown shade that works so well with warm undertones and it gives the cheeks a gorgeous glow. You need this in your life. Another blush that is fairly new to me but I literally can't stop wearing it is Hourglass Mood Exposure, this has been on my radar for ages and I finally got my hands on it and it is love. The shade Mood Exposure is a soft plum blush and looks amazing on the cheeks for that blushing, fresh from outside kinda look.
I also have to give a big shout out to Kevin Aucoin Sculpting powder in Light, I mean this is literally what contour powders should be, natural and beautiful. If you have a hard time finding a shade light enough to contour with you need this. I will do a full review soon with swatches. Lastly in terms of powder I discovered a little gem from Kiko and that is The Radiant Fusion Baked Powder, this is a somewhat dupe for the Hourglass powders but I find this one helps keep my makeup on more but it is the same concept so if you are looking for a cheaper alternative be sure to check them out.
Now let me just state if you are getting married in the new year then you need No7 Stay Perfect Superlight foundation, I mean this stuff is literally foundation goals, its undetectable on the skin, feels so lightweight on and gives the skin such a gorgeous glow and healthy complexion and it photographs so well. I use this on pretty much every skin tone but not super oily but it works well for my oily/combo skin type as long as I set it. Love this foundation! Bargain of the year has to go to the Primark/ Pennys mini beauty sponges, these are amazing for like €2 for 4 of them, I use them for the undereye area and spot concealing however I seen someone applying eyeshadow with them...not sure how that works but you defiantly should buy these sponges next time you are in Primark/ Pennys.
As for lips I am seriously surprised that I only have 2 products but I have used these two lipsticks the most this year, the first one is YSL Volupte Shine in 9 which is the perfect everyday nude and they smell so nice plus the moisturising finish is perfect for me this time of year. The other lipstick is Mac Mehr, I mentioned this last year but I literally have loved this lipstick so much this year that I had to include it. As for eyes I haven't used many new products but I did buy Mac Mulch and I love it, I like to blend this all over the eyes and then pop a little bit woodwinked in the center, it looks amazing worn alone but paired with woodwinked or any gold shadow is incredible, this shadow works well for hazel, green eyes but anyone can wear it.
Lastly is Skincare, I have been buying so much skincare products this year trying to find something that will help my skin and to be honest these are the only products that I can say I truly love. First off face masks in particular sheet masks and the fact I am obsessed with them, I mean how much easier are they to use and the one feature here is a new range by Boots that are affordable and great, I haven't really got a favourite one as I like to use a different type every week but these masks fit on the face great and don't drip down the neck #perfect. As for makeup removing I literally cannot sing Garnier Micellar Oil Infused water praises anymore than I have. This has replaced my Bioderma, it works so much better for my skin and I love the scent. Highly recommend it. Also if you want to try out a luxury cleanser for a pretty decent price then you need Roger & Gallet Le Soin Aura Mirabilis cleanser, oh my lord this stuff is amazing, it goes on like a gel than transforms into a oil and breaks down all the makeup and dirt on your face and leaves it so soft and glowing. Best part it smells on Turkish delight. I have been big into moisturiser this year as well and Bideorma Light Moisturising Care range has been my go to product, works well with sensitive skin and works well under makeup it's perfect. As for makeup sprays I have found using Urban Decay Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray before my makeup makes my foundation go on smoother and leaves my skin looking radiant and hydrated. Such a simple step to take in your makeup routine and great results.
So there you have my very long arse post on products that I have been loving this year. I will be doing some separate reviews on a few of these products as I have been a little slack this year on blogging so 2017 is going to be in full swing with the posts. Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what you have loved using this year.
